I have been involved in agriculture communications for almost 20 years. In January 2015, I began working as an independent communications consultant. Clients include advertising agencies, not-for-profits, NGO’s and agricultural and other organizations as well as editorial writing for industry publications. My passion is agricultural advocacy and communication; my work with the McDonald’s Sustainable Beef Pilot Program and the Canadian Centre for Food Integrity’s Public Trust Summit are just two projects that allowed me to be part of telling agriculture’s story. In 2017, I began work as the executive director of Alberta Farm Animal Care, an organization committed to extension and training inside the industry and building trust between the livestock sector and the public.
My communication career began at AdFarm in Calgary where I worked on a variety of accounts and specialized in media relations. Strategic communications, writing, event management and account management were just a few of my other duties there.
At Canada Beef, I served as Director, Industry Relations and acted as the liaison between the Check-Off funded organization and the funding stakeholders – producers and their associations. This included developing online and print materials, work for the board of directors, development of tradeshow materials and displays (and execution at tradeshows) as well as presentations, advertising development and media buys. During that time, I was also the lead on developing and implementing Beef Advocacy Canada, an online information and advocate training website.
Other work included Community Investment Manager with UFA, and freelance work with Meristem and Canadian Cattlemen’s Association among others. As well, I have volunteered with the Calgary Stampede since 2004 on various Agriculture committees including Chair of the Agriculture Media committee, Vice-Chair of the International Livestock Committee and social media lead for Draft Horse Town.
Annemarie Pedersen Communications specializes in agricultural communications including: communications and public relations strategy and management; social media strategy and management; media relations and ad buys; event planning and tradeshow management; presentations and written materials; and producer outreach and engagement.
I am a native Calgarian and a proud Albertan. I love to travel – across Canada and beyond and I enjoy photography. I am no expert (I work with some great photographers!) but the photos on this website are mine (publication photos not included). If you are looking for me off-hours I could be two-stepping, skiing or riding my 3-speed cruiser Olive.
I bring my expertise and my commitment to the agriculture sector to every project. I am passionate about aiding the agriculture industry in telling its story and connecting with consumers. I look forward to working with you.
